Where did it go? Suddenly it's fall. I had my first Dunkin' Donuts pumpkin donut and muffin last week, and tonight had the first pumpkin beer (Harpoon UFO) of the season.

I grew tomatoes, but with the wet weather, I'm waiting for a bunch to ripen. We didn't lose power during Hurricane Irene. My moonvines are well over 6' tall and on the brink of blooming.

Well, we didn't really. But we did move out of our condo (sniff), moved in with my parents (!), and closed on a house a week later. In that week Rory turned one, and on his birthday he stayed up way too late and mushed his cupcake. Which I then had to stuff some in his mouth. We also had lobster &amp; corn, and he liked petting the lobsters and carrying around the corn--very tactile!

With one week of bed-rest, we almost made it to 36 weeks. Labor was roughly 5-8 hours with 5 minutes of pushing and no epidural. It was a very different experience--more medicalized, more on the clock. He still had to go to the NICU, but he came down to our room at 2am. At first I was freaked out because I had to wrap things up at work and think about what I can do at home. If I go on Short Term Disability now, it eats into the time I have after the baby is born. He's been moving around a bunch now that I've been still. To get out of my gray-hair funk, I went with the nightshade, since it's slightly more conservative.I forget how the grays really pick up color and reflect it=no bleaching necessary. I love it. We spent last weekend in Boothbay/Southport Maine, visiting my sister's in-laws with our whole family. It was a gorgeous spot, perfect weather. Ate in Boothbay, toured around the harbor, relaxed. Except when I fell down the stairs at the house where we were staying (I'm OK. The extra padding helped cushion the fall.) I even got a tan!
