    Fat Tuesday

Usually I don't like to talk about weight, because it gets kind of boring really fast. But after months of stress-induced eating & holiday feasts, I've managed to gain back half of the weight I lost while doing Weight Watchers--15 pounds/30 lost total. Part of it I'd like to blame on hormonal eating binges; back in April I had my IUD taken out in a so-far unsuccessful not-quite-whole-hearted attempt for baby #2. (Sorry if that's a little TMI.)

So, tomorrow we diet. To celebrate Fat Tuesday, I had an apple fritter from Starbucks. Damn, those things are eeeevil.

I haven't given anything up for Lent in ages, but to get kick started, I'm giving up coffee-shop pastries: fritters, donuts, muffins, breads, etc., baked by our friends at Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Borders Cafe, et al. I'll keep the home-made goodies to a minimum.

Part of the whole Weight Watchers thing is tracking what you eat, and that really makes a difference. And meetings. Somehow being held responsible to a group of people and paying for someone to weigh you is a motivating incentive.

Heck, maybe I'll even to a yoga class on a regular basis. I may even go to church!

Oh yeah, and I aim to finish knitting a sweater.

    Wish me luck.

that is very funny, because i am giving up the same thing for Lent - all baked goods from the evil empire of DD. i just decided this morning as i was getting my coffee and when i almost ordered a muffin out of sheer inertia it hit me that i need to cut myself off. it's been a year since Z was born, so i can't blame my weight on the baby anymore, can i?

We're back on the wagon here in Ohio too. We were just discussing a day or two ago why starting this stuff in the dead of depressing winter is just a really bad idea.

The food logging process is great because it adds structure to my ADD-addled head. Just being aware of I'm eating makes a huge difference. That said, I just ate a cream-filled Dunkin' Donut here in my training class....

I'm giving up booze for lent, which should also help on the weight side!

Good luck to you, on both projects.
